When Leighann Raksasouk moved into 185 Metropolitan Ave, she brought a lamp that she hung above her bed until it fell on her head (twice), a cutthroat (but usually correct) wisdom, and a strict new cleaning regimen. She also brought with her an espresso machine.
While our house didn’t change much when she moved in (apart from getting significantly cleaner), our home did. A home is kind of like a well-formed hash. It is some function that takes the personalities of three different girls and combines them into a new thing, not resembling its parts and unique, unreproducible with replacements or additions. I’ve lived in this house for a while now but my home has changed many times as the roommates shuffled in and out. When Leighann moved here, the contours of our habits and patterns shrunk and grew to fit and blend with each other, and I have to say I think we make a pretty nice hash.
One unexpected side effect of my new home is Leighann’s generosity and the coffee machine I now have access to. This is the coffee that I make with it, usually on Fridays when I’m working from home.
Ingredients:
2.5 shots of espresso* (sub with instant or drip if you don’t have a Leighann in your life)
Lactose free whole milk
Ground Cinnamon
Salt
Honey
Method:
Heat or ice the milk. Mix the ingredients. Enjoy.
The following is the detailed, time-optimized method:
Turn the espresso machine on. While it warms up, load your portafilter basket with espresso ground beans.
Click 2 cup for 2 shots of espresso. While the shot is pouring, heat up (or ice) your milk in mug that best matches your mood and start brushing your teeth. By the time you start brushing your teeth, the first 2 shots will be done, click 1 cup. This rebrew will give you a third weaker shot of coffee.
You will still be brushing and your milk will still be heating (or cooling) by the time the third shot finishes. This is the perfect time to add the cinnamon (3 shakes), salt (1 pinch), and honey (¾ tsp), all to taste, into the freshly brewed espresso.
By the time you finish brushing (and tongue scraping) the ingredients will have heated (or cooled), infused, dissolved, and melted, respectively. Pour the espresso into the milk.
